It's Biblical. While the Bible may not use the exact word "member," the concept of commitment is clear throughout Scripture. The Apostle Paul talked about the importance of partnership in the Gospel (Philippians 1:5). By becoming a member, you’re following in the footsteps of believers who were committed to their local churches, just like those in Corinth, Ephesus, and Colossae. Membership is a powerful way to show your commitment to God’s work in our community.
It Gives Stability. Our church is on the front lines of spiritual battles, facing challenges and opportunities alike. For us to succeed and make a real impact, we need a solid core of committed people. Membership provides the stability and support our church needs to thrive. The more members we have, the stronger and more secure our church becomes, enabling us to take bold steps in serving our community.
It Provides Accountability. Simply attending church isn’t the same as being a member. When you become a member, you’re making a public commitment to our church family, and in turn, we hold each other accountable. This accountability is a vital part of growing in your faith. Knowing that you have "skin in the game" encourages you to stay engaged and active in the life of the church.
It Benefits You. Becoming a member is a defining moment in your walk with Christ. It shows that you take your commitment to Him seriously enough to make it official. Membership also gives you a voice in the important decisions that shape the future of our church. In a world where belonging to groups is becoming less common, you can help make our church a place where community and commitment continue to grow.
We invite you to join us for our New Member Class at 6pm on October 23rd, 2024, where we’ll explore what it means to be a part of Martin's Lutheran Church. Then, on October 27th at 9:30 AM, we’ll celebrate New Member Sunday, welcoming our newest members into our church family.
